Born in Moldova, Natalia Jidovanu completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology of Justice at the University of Minho, Portugal. Based in Nairobi since 2014, Jidovanu has worked on a number of long-term documentary projects and on assignments for international non-governmental organizations and international media. She is the Founder of Art Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization empowering children and youth in Nairobi’s Kibera slum through photography and storytelling. Her recent work includes covering the South Sudan refugee crisis at the South Sudan - Uganda border, forced evictions in Nairobi’s slums, and torture survivors in Northern Kenya. Jidovanu is interested in human stories with a strong inclination towards issues of social justice. (Photo shot in Adjumani District, Uganda 2017.)
