Hannah Reyes Morales is a Filipina photographer and National Geographic Explorer. Based in Manila, Reyes Morales’ work explores the universal themes of diaspora, survival, and the bonds that tie us together. She has photographed human trafficking at sea for the New York Times, reported on forced marriages in Cambodia for Al Jazeera America, and documented changing indigenous cultures in the Philippines for a grant from National Geographic. She is a member of MAPS, the recipient of a SOPA award for excellence in digital reporting, the recipient of the Chris Hondros Memorial Award, was selected for the World Press Photo Foundation’s 6x6 Global Talent Program, and was designated one of the British Journal of Photography’s “Ones to Watch” in 2018. The Royal Photographic Society awarded her a Margaret Harker medal for their 100 Photographic Heroines of 2019. (Photo shot in Pasig River, Manila Bay, Philippines 2018.
