In 1988, Eva Depoorter enrolled in an evening class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sint Niklaas, Belgium. That class propelled her photographic interests, and she became obsessed with observation. With her photography, working mainly in black and white, she hopes to demonstrate simplicity and austerity. Depoorter focuses primarily on documentary photography, and humans are a central theme in her work. She has received various awards and has had the opportunity to exhibit her work internationally. Her photographs have been published in numerous magazines and newspapers. (Photo shot in North Vietnam, 1994. Photo sponsors: Charles and Kim Hoffman.)
