Ann Rosener (1914–2012) was born in San Francisco. In 1935, she graduated from Smith College, a prominent women’s college located in Northampton, Massachusetts. During the early 1940s, she worked as a photographer for the federal government as part of the Office of War Information (OWI). Rosener produced approximately 800 images documenting American life during World War II. Her work focused on topics such as women working at jobs typically filled by men and home economics. Her original negatives from the OWI are held by the Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division. Rosener continued to be active in the arts until her death.
