Amr Alfiky is an Egyptian award-winning documentary photographer and filmmaker. He studied medicine at Alexandria University in Egypt and assisted as a field medic during the 2011 Egyptian revolution. In 2013, Alfiky co-founded Janaklees for Visual Arts in Egypt. He moved to the U.S. in 2014 due to the ongoing crackdown on activists and journalists and began documenting the lives of fellow Egyptian immigrants. Alfiky’s work documenting the Muslim American experience in the U.S. has been featured in the New York Times, Reuters, Time, the Guardian, the Atlantic, Huffington Post and other major international publications. His work has been exhibited in major international festivals, and in 2017, he was selected to participate in the New York Times Portfolio Review, Eddie Adams Workshop and Missouri Photo Workshop. In 2018, he received his Master of Arts in Journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
