Born in Manizales, Colombia, Juan Giraldo is a photographer currently working in Chicago, Illinois and New Jersey. In 2015, he received his MFA in Photography from Columbia College Chicago and received his BFA with a concentration in photography from William Paterson University in 2009. His work explores the personal interior spaces of working people (in particular the employees of Great Lakes Reload and his family in Paterson, New Jersey), the textures of a working life, and the banal indicators of domesticity that shaped his view of the world, both as a first-generation immigrant and laborer. (Photo shot in Hammond, IN, USA, 2013. Photo sponsors: Jimmy and Mary Edmundson.)
